Storm Prediction Center filtered storm reports, last 365 days, through Nov 2, 2026. One storm can produce several reports.

Knox County

Knox County holds Knoxville, Farragut, Powell and Halls. It is one of nine Tennessee counties that adopted the state Home Improvement license, so a residential roofing job from $3,000 to $24,999 here requires that license, and $25,000 or more requires a state contractor license. Warnings come from the National Weather Service office in Morristown.

Towns: Knoxville, Farragut, Powell, Halls

Blount County

Blount County runs from Maryville and Alcoa to Townsend at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. Foothill communities can get strong mountain-wave winds when storms pass east of the mountains, as forecasters warned before the remnants of Hurricane Isaias in October 2026. Blount has not adopted the Home Improvement license, so for jobs under $25,000 ask for proof of insurance.

Towns: Maryville, Alcoa, Townsend

Anderson County

Anderson County, northwest of Knoxville, includes Clinton, most of Oak Ridge and part of Norris Lake. Many Oak Ridge homes date to the 1940s and 1950s, and older roofs are more likely to be paid at actual cash value. It has not adopted the Home Improvement license.

Towns: Oak Ridge, Clinton

Sevier County

Sevier County includes Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Seymour, and thousands of rental cabins in the mountains. Steep, wooded lots and metal roofs are common. The 2016 Chimney Tops 2 wildfire destroyed or damaged more than 2,000 structures around Gatlinburg, which is why many homes here were rebuilt with ignition-resistant roofing. It has not adopted the Home Improvement license.

Towns: Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Seymour

Loudon County

Loudon County, southwest of Knoxville along I-75, includes Lenoir City, the city of Loudon and much of Tellico Village. Lakefront homes on Tellico and Fort Loudoun lakes are exposed to wind over open water. It has not adopted the Home Improvement license.

Towns: Lenoir City, Loudon
